KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Capitalizing on his wildly popular Pho Hoa Noodle Soup eatery in the old Scimeca’s grocery space, 1447 E Independence Ave., Spike Nguyen and his wife Jessie have taken their concept on the road.

Thursday morning, flanked by local dignitaries from the city, county and the Vietnamese consulate, Jessie Nguyen cut the ribbon on the newly opened Eye-Pho Tower at the corner of Broadway and Valentine Road. The roughly 3,000 square foot restaurant seats a little over 150 patrons and features menu items carried over from Pho Hoa, while also expanding the French Fusion concept that Spike and Jessie are famous for at their flagship location at Independence Avenue and The Paseo.

“People will see a number of familiar items on the menu but we’re going to really feature our Fusion items that accent the French influence on Vietnamese cooking,” owner Spike Nguyen said. “Opening this has been a lifelong dream for us.”

Following the formal grand opening tonight, the restaurant will have daily lunch and dinner specials with special events planned throughout the year.

Greg Patterson, owner of the building Eye-Pho Tower occupies, was excited to see Nguyen branch out in Midtown.

“He’ll do very well here” Patterson said at the ribbon cutting. “Midtown is really ready for this. We’re very excited to have Spike and Jessie here.”
