Northeast News
Dec. 11, 2015
Last week, this newsdog penned an editorial titled “Blood Money” favoring the demolition of Speedy Cash at Independence and Prospect Avenues, following the tragic fire that took the lives of two hometown Northeast heroes, Larry Leggio and John Mesh. This newsdog says, in respect for those families and the good of the community, raze the building.
Speedy Cash, however, has hired some high dollar legal eagles and is fighting the city’s demolition order and wants to rebuild what’s left of the scorched structure to continue their predatory lending operation. This opinionated news-pooch says, time for a community intervention.
We’ve posted a letter of opposition to Speedy Cash rebuilding and reopening on our website. If you support Bunny the Newshound in this community effort, join her along with the Pendleton Heights and the Scarritt Renaissance Neighborhood Associations in supporting the City Planning Commission’s demolition order for the Speedy Cash at 2600 Independence Boulevard. Download the letter from our web site and send it to Diane Binckley, head of City Planning Services at: diane.binckley@kcmo.org. Bunny the Newshound says thanks for your support.
