Northeast News

Another new business has chosen to call Independence Avenue home, and that’s good news for area grocery shoppers. Last Tuesday, Mercado Fresco opened at Independence Avenue and Denver, and shoppers couldn’t be more thrilled. The store is owned by Eddie Mussalet and operated by his cousin Rami Zaben. It is one of many retail operations owned by Mussalet in Historic Northeast, including a number of Express Stop’s scattered throughout the community.
“The name says it all,” said Zaben. “We want to focus on providing the freshest meat and produce to our customers along with superior customer service.” Mercado Fresco is open daily from 8am to 9pm.
