Kansas City residents, including those living in the Historic Northeast, can run for open positions with the city of Kansas City, Mo. Neighborhood Advisory Council (NAC) for the 2013 election.

The 15-member council is looking for interested Kansas City residents to serve on the NAC for the 2013 calendar year. The NAC is divided into six regions and is tasked with discussing proposed city policies and programs and making suggestions to the director of the city’s Neighborhoods and Housing Services Department.

Each region has two members and there are three at-large members. The following positions are open for the 2013 calendar year: one north-east region seat, one north-west region seat, one central-west region seat, one central-east region seat, one south-west region seat, one south-east region seat and two at-large seats. Interested residents must apply for candidacy by Monday, Aug. 19. Applications are available at www.kcmo.org/kcnac or at the Robert J. Mohart Center, 3200 Wayne Ave.

Completed applications should be sent to the attention of Tiffany Drummer, Neighborhoods and Housing Services Department, 3200 Wayne Ave., Kansas City, Mo. 64109.

Candidates for the open positions must prove residency, be a registered Missouri voter, must not have any outstanding warrants or any delinquent taxes and must not have any conflicts of interest with the work of the NAC.

NAC members are expected to attend monthly meetings, meet with neighborhood organizations in their  elected regions and participate in city events, such as public hearings, public forums, and community events to receive input on  a variety of community matters.
