The Kansas City MLB Urban Youth Academy (KCUYA) will be hosting nationally acclaimed Camp Invention.

Camp Invention is a week long summer program for children to explore their creativity, innovation and improve their problem-solving skills. Children participate in hands-on activities to encourage teamwork and entrepreneurship.

The camp will be led by local educators and will follow a specific curriculum designed by the National Inventors Hall of Fame. Participants must be able to attend every day as the curriculum builds upon itself.
The camp will be held in-person on Monday, Aug. 10, through Friday, Aug. 14, at the KCUYA, located at 1622 E. 17th Terr. Registration is open to boys and girls in grades 4 through 6, but will be limited to a capacity of 42 children.

Populous, a global architectural and design firm headquartered in Kansas City, is sponsoring KCUYA as the host site and providing the camp at no cost for participants.

In order to comply with health and safety guidelines due to COVID-19, all participants, staff and volunteers will be required to bring and wear a face covering during the camp. In addition, participants will have their temperature checked before entering the academy.

If their temperature reads above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, the participant will not be allowed to participate for the day. Social distancing will also be practiced and increased cleaning and sanitization will take place.
