The Northeast News invites readers to join them in celebrating National Cheeseburger Day on Tuesday, September 18.

“Mom and Pop shops truly do the best burgers,” said Bryan Stalder, organizer of Northeast News’ National Cheeseburger Day special section.

National food holidays are a dime a dozen anymore. It is easy to flip open your Google Calendar and find out it’s National Donut Day or National Ice Cream Day. So what makes National Cheeseburger Day different?

Stalder says, “You know, I know where you can get tacos, or ice cream, but it’s not often you hear people talking about the best burger place in the Northeast.” People often fall into a routine when it comes to eating out. Everyone knows their favorite fast food place, and even their favorite fast food burgers.

Northeast News has visited a handful of local businesses in and around Independence Avenue to get them involved in this event. All you have to do is go to any local burger restaurant on September 18th, order a cheeseburger, and snap a picture. Then share it with Northeast News on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook. Be sure to hashtag the photo with #NortheastCheeseburgers. This will enter you into a contest to win four tickets to the Kansas City Renaissance Festival. You get a good burger, you support local business, and you could win tickets to a fun event for the whole family.

“It’s about a lack of knowledge of these amazing burgers,” said Stalder, “And after this, we’ll do other foods. We want to highlight all the great local food.”
But right now, it’s all about the burgers.
