JEFFERSON CITY, Missouri — U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskillis is visiting Kansas City this week, as well as other Missouri cities, to hear about the concerns of senior citizens on retirement, fraud and healthy living.
McCaskill is scheduled to be at the Don Bosco Senior Center at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 1. Other stops — beginning Tuesday, March 31 — include St. Louis, Macon, Columbia, Chillicothe, Branson, Springfield and Farmington
In a press release, McCaskill said she wants to hear directly from seniors about, “how Congress can live up to promises made to older Americans, especially in regards to health and retirement.”
“For me, the best way to tackle issues affecting Missouri’s seniors is to hear directly from them,” McCaskill said. “My mom and I used to talk about that often, and I’m eager to continue getting firsthand feedback on how Congress can better live up to the promises we’ve made to older Americans, and ensure that when it comes to their health and retirement, their government is truly working for them.”
McCaskill serves as the top-ranking Democrat on the Senate Special Committee on Aging, a position from which she has investigated and explored fraudulent robocalls and other scams targeting seniors, financial exploitation, the retirement security crisis — and Alzheimer’s disease, which was the subject of a hearing McCaskill led last week, featuring a witness from Missouri.
