Just after 10:30 Tuesday morning first responders were called to Independence Avenue at Wilson Avenue in regard to a two vehicle collision.
A gray Honda Civic was traveling east on Independence Avenue and black Harley Davidson was traveling west on Independence Avenue. According to police, the Honda turned left in front of the Harley Davidson, hitting the motorcycle and throwing the driver of the Harley Davidson into the air and onto the pavement.
The driver of the Harley Davidson was not wearing a motorcycle helmet and landed head first. He was transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries. The driver of the Honda was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
Update: Police were notified the driver who had been operating the Harley Davidson motorcycle has died. The driver has been identified as a 64-year-old Olathe, Kan., man.
