KANSAS CITY, Missouri — The Kansas City Police Department is investigating the suspicious death of a two-year-old girl.
According to a press release from Darin Snapp, public information officer for the KCPD, officers were called to an apartment along the 1300 block of Vine St., for an ambulance call. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, along with a four-year-old boy suffering from burns to his chest and back. He was transported to a local hospital and is currently in serious condition.
Snapp added there was evidence of a fire inside the apartment, which appears to be the cause of the death and injury. The mother of the victims, along with two more children — a nine-year-old and an 11 month-old — were also inside the apartment at the time, but with no signs of injuries. The mother and the nine-year-old are being interviewed in an attempt to determine the cause of the fire, when the fire occurred and time of death. The fire and death appear to have occurred, at least, within the last 12 hours.
