KANSAS CITY – Kansas City Police Department is hosting a free Safety Event today, open to the public.
According to spokesperson for the event, Officer Richard Marquez, the event will be a general public safety meeting teaching residents simple ways to protect themselves and possessions.
“It’s basically just reminders and going over things you possibly haven’t thought about, like ways to protect your car in bad weather.”
This safety event is being held in response to several requests from neighborhood associations, and is going to be one of many. Although the KCPD does not have certain dates yet, they know the next event will be focused on protecting businesses.
“This is the beginning of several safety events,” he said. “We’ll be moving onto the next one, focused on business owners and how they can protect their businesses and in the next one, we’ll be trying to get all the neighborhood associations working together to focus on safety.”
This training will focus on overall crime prevention and neighborhood safety tips. Come learn the best ways to protect your home, your property and yourself from crime.
The safety event will be held at 6:30 p.m. at 7601 Prospect Ave, and is open to the public. For more info, visit kcpd.org.
