More than 350 community members attended the Kansas City Police Department’s community forum Nov. 19 at Robert Mohart Multipurpose Center.
Chief Darryl Forté organized the event to engage the community and provide an avenue for community members to voice their concerns or ask questions one-on-one with officers and commanders.
Multiple KCPD units were in attendance, including the Homicide, Narcotics and Vice Division, Human Resources Recruiters and each patrol division station. During the forum, Kansas Citians with specific public safety problems were asked to sign a “Community Contract” with KCPD which outlined mutually agreed upon steps to address the issue.
“It says we have a shared responsibility and individual accountability – both police and community members – for resolving problems,” Forté said. Photos by Michael Bushnell.
