KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Kansas City, Mo., officials are helping residents prepare for severe weather by participating in Missouri’s Severe Weather Awareness week.

The partnership with the National Weather Service, the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency, and local Emergency Management help prepare Missourians for spring severe weather. Missouri’s Severe Weather Awareness week begins today, March 2, and ends Friday, March 6.

At 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, Kansas City will participate in a statewide tornado siren test. Weather permitting, the drill will  sound the tornado outdoor warning sirens. The regularly scheduled tornado siren test on Wednesday March 4th is  canceled.

At 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 6, Kansas City City Hall will hold a tornado drill. During this time, all employees and customers in the building will be directed to take shelter. The city’s 311 Action Center will be closed from approximately 1:15-1:45 p.m. to participate in the tornado drill.
