According to a recent release, one Kansas City Fire Department firefighter has tested positive for COVID-19. The firefighter had self-quarantined at home prior to the test and has not required hospitalization.

On March 20th, one firefighter informed the Fire Department’s Designated Representative that they felt ill.

The firefighter was tested in accordance with the Department’s testing protocols and received notification of the positive test on March 25th.

“The KCFD firefighter that tested positive of COVID–19 followed department protocols. Upon first feeling ill, the firefighter called in sick to work and notified the Designated Representative,” said Fire Chief Donna Maize.

KCFD will continue to provide fire protection, emergency medical services, emergency rescue and hazardous material response to the residents of KCMO.

– If you feel sick, stay home and contact your primary care physician for additional guidance

– If you call KCFD for ambulatory services, meet them outside your home if possible
