A Kansas City man accused of posing as a police officer has been charged with first degree robbery, armed criminal action and kidnapping.

According to court documents, the 27-year-old female victim arranged via telephone to meet with 30-year-old Aaron M. Hall in the Courtyard by Marriott parking lot.

The two met in the hotel parking lot at 500 E. 105th St. and proceeded to walk to the victim’s hotel room. Inside the room, Hall identified himself as a special agent and told the victim he was arresting her for prostitution. After placing the victim in handcuffs, he searched the room and stole money, a cell phone and a laptop computer.

According to court documents, Hall then took the victim outside and used a radio to request a “paddy wagon.” A voice on the radio confirmed a vehicle would arrive shortly.

When the victim saw another vehicle approach, she fled to the lobby for help.

The victim said Hall wore a KCMO Police T-shirt, had a black handgun in a holster, had a police ID and a palm-sized radio.

KCPD used phone records to determine the number on the victim’s phone belonged to Hall. In addition, KCPD received four tips that the suspect was Hall.

The robbery is the fourth in a series of robberies and a sexual assault, all similar in nature, that occurred between May and September. The investigation is ongoing and other evidence suggests that Hall may have committed the other offenses.

Prosecutors have requested a $150,000 cash bond.
