Due to popular demand, Kansas City’s Club KC program has been extended until Saturday, Aug. 11, and will now take place at three community centers.

Middle school aged youth can participate in Club KC at the Tony Aguirre Community Center, 2050 W. Pennway Terrace, on Saturdays from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. or at Gregg/Klice Community Center, 1600 John “Buck” O’Neil Way, on Fridays and Saturdays from 6 p.m. 11 p.m.

Youth in high school are invited to the Club KC at Brush Creek Community Center, 3801 Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd., on Fridays and Saturdays from 7 p.m. to midnight.

“Mayor’s Nights are activities designed by Kansas City’s youth for Kansas City’s youth,” Kansas City Mayor Sly James said. “We asked them what they wanted, and more importantly we listened.

“Following their lead is paying off. Midway through the summer, I am very happy to say the centers are full late into the night, and young people are having a great time. Hundreds are gathering each weekend at Club KC to dance, swim and play — safely.”

As part of the Mayor’s Nights initiative, Club KC opened June 15 and has provided an outlet for more than 3,000 middle school and high school youth. All Club KC events are free and have included swim parties, live DJs, refreshments, open mic, basketball tournaments, among other activities.
