The Kansas City Public Library North-East branch will be removing its eight public computers from its interim location as a preventative measure against the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The computers will be removed until March 31 at which time the library staff will reassess the situation to determine if the computers can be returned.

The decision to remove access to the computers, said Talia Evans, Media Relations Specialist with the Kansas City Public Library, in a recent email, is due to the close proximity between the computers and patrons using computer services.

The World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared the coronavirus a global pandemic and many public health officials are urging individuals to practice social distancing— staying home to avoid large clouds or remaining at least six feet away from other individuals if you must go out.

The library is currently working out of a smaller interim location at 5930 Wilson Road, as the original location at 6000 Wilson Road undergoes renovation.

In the meantime, the library staff suggests patrons of the North-East branch visit the KCPL Central branch (14 W 10th St, Kansas City, MO 64105) for WiFi and computer access.
