A Kansas City man has been charged with three counts of murder in the triple homicide that occurred this past weekend.
According to court documents, 46-year-old Derek T. Hubbard arrived home at his residence in the 2400 block of Lister, Kansas City, Mo., on Friday, Nov. 11. While sitting next to his estranged girlfriend, he began to argue with her and another man inside the home. An altercation with the man began, and Hubbard told his estranged girlfriend to leave with him. According to court documents, Hubbard then shot the man and killed his estranged girlfriend and the wife of the male victim. Hubbard drove away in his estranged girlfriend’s vehicle.
On Sunday, Nov. 13, Hubbard drove to police headquarters and turned himself in.
Hubbard has been charged with first degree murder, two counts of second degree murder, three counts of armed criminal action and one count of first degree robbery. Hubbard’s bond is set at $750,000, cash only.
