Budd Park’s Disc Golf Pop-up Event is back for 2024 on Saturday, January 27th. If you’re a fan of disc golf and raising money for community food partners such as the Bishop Sullivan Center, this is the event for you.
Since partnering in 2004, Kansas City Disc Golf members have raised over $150,000 for the Bishop Sullivan Center. The Pop-Up event is part of the 29th year of the Ice Bowl, an annual disc golf tournament that everyone can participate in, regardless of skill level.
“The knowledge that we’re contributing to the Northeast community in a positive way and showing how we can make a positive impact on the area is what I love about the event most,” said Jack Lowe, a promoter of the Ice Bowl and the Pop-up event at Budd Park.
The Ice Bowl proudly boasts the tagline, “No Wimps. No Whiners.” Why? The event will not be canceled due to poor weather conditions, Lowe says. “It’s going to be muddy, but we will play no matter what.”
The Budd Park event has been a winter staple for the last 5 years, and occurs in Kansas City’s Northeast to reinforce positivity within the neighborhood and to warmly welcome newcomers to the area while making a positive difference with entrance fees going toward charity.
Budd Park is located at St. John and Hardesty Avenues, just across the street from Holy Cross Parish. Registration begins at 9.am and this year’s Northeast Ice Bowl event begins with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. this Saturday. Registration is $10 per player.
This year’s Ice Bowl finale will be at Rosedale Park in Kansas City, KS on Sunday, February 4th. For more information or to register for this year’s Ice Bowl, go to https://www.discgolfscene.com/tournaments.
