This pot stirrin’, activist newshound is sending out some sizable accolades this week to all the concerned neighbors around the old Saint Paul School of Theology campus who rallied the troops against the proposed KC Case project slated for the site.

Saint Paul officials were quiet on the exact reason for the pullout by KC Case, but a spokesperson for the KC Case group eluded to what could be considered negative pushback from the neighboring community on the intended use for the property. If you were one of those vigilant, activist neighbors who made a stink (and rightfully so), pat yourself on the back; you made a difference for the betterment of the community at large.

When Saint Paul vacated the campus earlier this year, assurances were given to community leaders that potential new occupants of the site would be good for the surrounding neighborhood. KC Case was not that tenant, and your voices against the poorly planned and ill funded proposal made the difference. Guadalupe Center’s proposed charter school and adult education center is a perfect fit for the site as well as the surrounding community and will bring a long history of solid community service to the Truman Road Corridor. Neighborhood activism is something this news canine knows a little bit about (ahem) and the community voices protesting this sale are to be congratulated. Score one for neighborhoods and the little guy.
