Last week the Mayor of Kansas City, Mo., used the tragic and senseless killing of a young girl from south Kansas City to employ a page from the Barack Obama/Rahm Emanuel playbook and “never let a tragedy go to waste.”
This crafty news-pooch is smarter than that, thanks, and thinks you are, too. The Mayor deliberately politicized the shooting to blame not the criminal in this case, but the entire “gun culture” for this senseless tragedy. That means if you own a gun, you shoulder part of the blame for this killing, at least in this Mayor’s eyes.
The Mayor’s statement is yet another veiled threat to all legal gun owners and a direct affront to the Second Amendment of the Constitution that guarantees the right to keep and bear arms. This news-pooch is tired of the threats to our liberty. Blaming the “gun culture” for this murder is akin to blaming cars for automobile accidents and pencils for misspelled words.
Three New York City police officers were attacked last week by a hatchet wielding terrorist. Funny, I don’t see anyone blaming the hatchet or lining up outside Cabela’s to picket their camping section. There’s an old adage that this doggie subscribes to: When seconds count, a good cop is minutes away. Until the prosecutorial paradigm in Jackson County, Mo., changes and violent criminals aren’t routinely turned back out on to the streets to continue business as usual, this CCW [Conceal Carry Weapon] certified doggie will keep ours thanks. And as for shouldering part of the blame, not this time Mr. Mayor.
