Husband and wife duo, Jay and Leslie Cady of Laughing Matters, brought their wacky sense of humor to the North-East Public Library July 6. From new twists on bedtime stories to juggling hats and sheep, they kept the audience entertained.
In addition to garnering laughs, they also included several educational components. While Leslie counted sheep, Professor Snoozy (Jay) taught youngsters how to multiply, add and divide the number of sheep. However, while counting, Professor Snoozy kept falling asleep. The duo also taught the first five steps of the order of succession for the U.S. presidency. Calling up volunteers, they swore in individual youngsters to become the president, asking, “Do you promise to be a good president?” However, his or her presidency didn’t last long. Leslie would whip out a picture saying how the newly sworn-in president had abruptly died. Some were abducted by aliens, one president fell into lava and another was struck by a meteor. Once the president died, it was up to the vice-president, then the speaker of the house and so on to take over.
Finally, with the help of volunteers, the couple re-enacted the story of the “Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf.”
