Police on Tuesday morning taped off the area around the Northeast News, possibly in relation to a body that was found in an alley between the 400 block of Topping and Lawndale, just North of Independence Avenue. The body, a white male in his thirties was found about 9am Tuesday morning by neighbors who called the police who are currently investigating the body as a homicide. At around noon, a resident living on St. John Avenue near Topping called police in regard to a bloody shirt that was found on the property at 5719 St. John, right next to the paper. Police taped off the area and collected evidence consisting of the shirt and blood spatters running north and south through the parking lot of the newspaper. “We heard six or seven shots last night but then heard no sirens” noted one neighbor on St. John. Detectives are currently interviewing neighbors and remain on the scene investigating. The house where the shirt was found has recently become a problem according to neighbors. “Anything and everything goes on in that house” said one resident who lives in the 100 block of Topping. “Nothing would surprise me as far as that house is concerned” the neighbor continued. Watch for updates here as they develop.
