Governor Mike Parson was in Kansas City today to meet with Mayor Quinton Lucas and Police Chief Rick Smith to discuss public safety issues, more specifically, how to quell the rising homicide rate and dealing with violent crime in general. Topics covered everything from mental health to the department’s highly successful social worker program and intervention techniques in domestic situations. Chief Smith specifically referenced neighborhoods in Historic Northeast and their high level of engagement as a crime fighting tool. Watch for a detailed update to come.
