George J. Altabas, 81, Northeast Kansas City, Mo., died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011. Visitation was held from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. A funeral service followed at 1 p.m. Burial was at Mt. Saint Mary’s Cemetery. Arrangements were by Passantino Bros. Funeral Home.

 George was born April 8, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

 Survivors include his wife, Mary M. Hill; stepchildren, Raymond McBride, Brenda Newton, Chad Hill, Robert Hill; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
