Former Jackson County Prosecutor Albert Riederer passed away this morning, according to media reports. In recent months Riederer retired from his law practice in order to battle cancer.
One of his highest profile cases was that of serial killer Bob Berdella in the early 1990s. Riederer was also instrumental in the establishment of the Jackson County COMBAT office. Rieder, a native of Historic Northeast, had his first job as a soda jerk at an area drug store. Riederer was 67 and leaves a long legacy of public service to Jackson County and the city of Kansas City.
