Police were on the scene of a fatal shooting in the 7200 block of E. 17th Street Wednesday night.
Just before 9:30 p.m., Kansas City Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of 17th and Crystal on a shooting call.
The caller saw a vehicle in a parking lot just off the road and believed it may be stuck. They stopped to assist but then realized the occupant in the vehicle was unresponsive. They then called police.
Upon arrival, officers were directed to the vehicle and located the victim, an adult male, inside the vehicle unresponsive. He appeared to have been shot.
Officers summoned EMS and they declared the victim deceased at the scene.
Detectives canvassed for witnesses and crime scene investigators processed evidence to hopefully give detectives an idea of what led up to the shooting.
