Sam Caloroso is a friendly face you may have seen around the neighborhood. He grew up in Northeast with family up and down both sides of Elma Avenue, and throughout the Pendleton Heights area. He attended Northeast High School and DeLaSalle.

In the 1980s, Caloroso moved to the Northland, but came back to the neighborhood to care for his mother about 15 years ago, and now he lives in the house he grew up in. “I’ve lived in Northeast for a total of around 45 years, but in my heart, I never left!” Caloroso said.

When Caloroso moved back to Northeast, he noticed a renewal in the area, and reconnecting with some of his childhood friends and schoolmates made it instantly like home. “Growing up in Northeast, I enjoyed going to the Concourse and Cascio’s Corner after school,” Caloroso references popular hangout spots that longtime Northeast residents would remember.

“Now I enjoy riding through the cliffs on my pedal bike.” He also laments his affinity for his scooter [R.I.P] which he said his daughter crashed.
Caloroso also enjoys spending time with his friends. “I play foosball at one buddy’s house and I enjoy catering with my buddy Frank for the disc golf group.”

“We are a community, fueled by immigrants and refugees. See your neighbors as you viewed your own experiences,” Caloroso said, “We are diverse and that’s a good thing, remembering your roots to those that left.”
