Chiluba Musonda is the director of operations at the Kansas City Museum, a role he has had since October 2018.

Originally from Zambia, a country in southern Africa, he migrated to Kansas City as an international student at UMKC and became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 2019, 15 years after his arrival in the states.

Musonda’s favorite part of working in Historic Northeast is the diversity of the community.

“Economically, historically, the transition between the different communities. That is what is inspiring to me. The people are the pull”.

Musonda chronicled his immigration experience in a new book entitled, “Home Away From Home: The story of an international student’s journey from Africa to America.”
