Herbert Hoskins is an Independence Avenue Ambassador with the Independence Avenue Community Improvement District. Herbert is a familiar and friendly face along the Avenue during the day and the work is something he enjoys.

“I’m outside and I love the interaction with the different people along the Avenue,” Herbert said.

Herbert works in all kinds of weather–rain, snow, sleet, hail, Herbert has seen it all and yet he endures. What keeps him coming back?

“It’s all part of the gig,” says Herbert. “When we hired on we knew the elements were going to be part of the gig. You get pretty used to it after a while and just dress for it.”

When asked what keeps him coming back every day, Herbert didn’t miss a beat.

“My teammates, the people I work with and what we do.”

Motivation for Herbert is simple. “Whenever people tell us we’re doing a good job, that kinda keeps us goin, keeps us motivated. It’s good to hear.”
