Kansas City, Mo– There was a long line Saturday morning, Nov. 23 for Eleos Coffee House’s 10th annual Thanksgiving Turkey and Fixin’s giveaway at its location (3401 Independence Ave).
Roughly 100 families signed up to receive a free Thanksgiving meal, Saturday with all of the trimmings, courtesy of Eleos Ministries.
Dinners included a frozen turkey, stuffing, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce and dessert. Families could also pick up cold weather gear such as blankets, socks, coats and gloves.
Volunteers from a number of churches, including Gashland Evangelical Presbyterian Church and Kansas City and Marshall Bikers for Christ assisted families with their meals.
The atmosphere was filled with smiles and well wishes, as those going through the line swapped their secrets for cooking the perfect turkey. For many, a traditional Thanksgiving meal would not be possible without the help of Eleos.
Eleos Ministries is one of the several area organizations offering food items and meals to help the community celebrate Thanksgiving.
As a nonprofit organization, Eleos works toward community transformation in Northeast Kansas City and surrounding Metropolitan areas.
