Northeast News
August 22, 2012
Due to the heat, students at East High and Northeast High will be released early today.
Students at both schools will be released at 12:40 p.m. Parents will be notified by a phone call and through notices on both schools’ websites, as well as at www.kcpublicschools.org.
East and Northeast are the only Kansas City Public Schools (KCPS) campuses that are not air-conditioned. As temperatures rise outside, it raises the probability that classrooms may become warm or uncomfortable learning environments.
KCPS will continue to monitor temperatures and will opt for early release when those temperatures reach a certain threshold. That threshold is not disclosed to prevent premature absences.
Any parent or community member with questions may contact the schools or the KCPS Parent Information Line at (816) 418-7556.
