Della Lamb Saints Football can be described in one word: unstoppable.
For three years in a row, the team has earned a pristine record, totaling 47 wins and zero losses.
“It’s incredible. I’m enjoying the ride,” said David Barnett, a football parent and former Della Lamb assistant coach.
The 21-player fourth grade team traveled to North Little Rock, Ark., last November and won the championship game at the 2012 Arkansas State Youth Football Championship. They won all three games and beat the Bryant Hornets 12 to 6 during the championship game. Both the coaches and the players walked away with medals.
During the 2012 season, the Della Lamb Saints also won the NYSSO Kickoff Classic, the Blue Valley Football Club League championship and the Mid States Tournament of Champions.
Barnett credits the team’s success to hard work and the coaches, who all played football in college. The coaches’ motto is: “Play smart, play fast, play physical.”
The teammates also get along and regularly hang out off the field, he said.
This year, the Della Lamb Saints hope to raise enough money to play in the American Youth Football National Championship in Kissimmee, Florida.
“They’ve done a great job and I hope they continue, which I’m sure they will,” Barnett said.
