Cultures Without Borders Art Exhibit is ready to offer a sneak peek of its diverse artwork.
This year, more than 20 artists submitted pieces for the exhibit sponsored by Northeast Arts KC.
Juror Joseph L. Smith will whittle down the artwork to the best of the best on Feb. 19 and a sneak preview will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26, at St. John’s Anglican Church, 517 S. Kensington.
“It’s really a perfect opportunity for us and I’m very excited,” said 15-year church member Dorri Partain of hosting the sneak preview.
In addition to the art exhibit preview, Partain and others will provide a tour of the sanctuary and give a brief history of the church, which has served Northeast since 1891.
Cookies and coffee will be provided.
This year’s artists include several from Northeast as well as artists from other areas of Missouri and Kansas.
Asked what she likes about the Cultures Without Borders Exhibit, Northeast Arts President Rebecca Koop said, “That showing and sharing of ideas is what I really like to see. It’s refreshing. I think it helps you grow and keeps you sharp.”
The six-week long exhibit will be on display at the American Heartland Theatre, 2450 Grand in Crown Center, from March 4 to April 15.
“We’re exposing it to an arts loving crowd,” Koop explained.
A gala opening and reception will be held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. March 4 at the Heartland and will include a meet and greet with artists, live music, refreshments and cash bar.
