For children still needing their back-to-school immunizations, the City of Kansas City will be hosting an immunization clinic from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13. The clinic will be held at the City’s Health Department, 2400 Troost Ave. No appointments are necessary, but participants should plan to arrive early.
Parents and guardians will need to present a copy of their child’s shot records or a letter from the child’s school stating what shots are needed. If the child has previously had shots at the Health Department, parents and guardians may get a copy of the shot record when they register at the event.
Immunizations are free for children who have no insurance, who have limited insurance that does not cover immunization or who are eligible for Medicaid’s Vaccine For Children program.
Immunizations are available daily in the Health Department’s immunization clinic during regular clinic hours.
To accommodate the large number of children seeking immunizations, the clinic schedule has expanded to include lunch hours on most days. Clinic registration is Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to noon for the remainder of the back-to-school immunization rush. Children registered during those times will be seen the same day.
