Frank Spinello

Frank Spinello, 96, Northeast Kansas City, Mo., passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2013. Visitation and a funeral service were held Dec. 12 at Passantino Bros. Funeral Home, 2117 Independence Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. Burial followed in Resurrection Cemetery. Frank was born Sept. 30, 1917, in Kansas City, Mo., to Thomas and Mary (Oliso) Spinello. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of WWII. Frank was owner and operator of Northeast Key Shop on Independence Avenue for more than 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Matt, Ned and Sam Spinello; and his sister, Mary Bradley. Survivors include his brother, Joseph Spinello; son, Joe Mike Spinello; nephew, Jess Bradley; and two grandchildren.

Mary Therese (Sheil) Carroll

Mary Therese (Sheil) Carroll, born Feb, 20, 1930, passed away on Dec. 28, 2013, with her husband of 65 years, Richard E. Carroll, Sr. and family by her side. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel, 11924 E. 47th St., Kansas City, Mo. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 Lee’s Summit Rd., Independence, Mo., with interment following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Arrangements are by McGilley & Sheil Chapel.

Mary Therese was the proud daughter of John Parnell Sheil and Laurine Bridget (Kelly) Sheil, founders of the Sheil Funeral Homes, Inc. She was a licensed funeral director in the state of Missouri. Mary Therese Carroll was a founding member of the Sheffield Neighborhood Association. She served as president of the State of Missouri Federation of

Women’s Democratic Clubs and past president of the 5th Congressional District of Democratic Women.

She is survived by her husband, Gene and their children, Jean Therese (Carroll) Ferrara (D. Aldon – deceased); Richard E. Carroll, Jr. (Terry) and Dennis P. Carroll, Sr. (Kathleen); 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to Denise Eiland Giovanni, devoted caregiver, and Joyce Bates who joined our family in the last year. We will never be able to express our heartfelt thanks for the devoted service to our parents in their time of need. Family would also like to thank the special angels of Northcare Hospice.
