The intersection of Chouteau Trafficway and Parvin Road will close for construction on June 1 and will remain closed until mid-August. Drivers will be detoured to Cleveland Avenue at NE 34th Terrace.
“We will have lit signs and a detour route marked,” said Sean Demory of the Kansas City Capital Projects Department.
The intersection will be closed to install sewer and drainage pipes. The project will eventually widen the road from two lanes to four from I-35 to Highway 210. The project also includes plans for sidewalks, a concrete bicycle trail, landscaped median, lights, rain boxes and reinforced box culverts to catch additional rainfall.
Improvements began in April and will continue through next spring. The city bought 31 properties along the parkway to make room for the improvements.
