Three area men have now been charged in connection with the July 11 murder of James Jackson near 20th and Denver Avenue in Kansas City, Mo.
Marcus M. Williams, 24, Larry L. Word Jr., 29, and Willie J. Gibson Jr., 24, have been charged with second degree murder, first degree attempted robbery and two counts of armed criminal action. According to court documents, the second degree murder charge is based on Jackson being killed as a result of the attempted felony of robbery.
According to court documents, Jackson’s body was found inside a vehicle near 20th and Denver Avenue. It appeared his vehicle had been in an accident and he was discovered inside, dead from gunshot wounds. Two defendants told police that they planned to rob the victim, and one of them shot the victim in his vehicle after approaching it on foot. The victim then drove north on Denver and wrecked near 20th and Denver.
Prosecutors have requested a cash bond of $250,000 on each defendant.
