Well the CCO gang is at it again, rambling about some kind of moral economy and a so-called “hearing” by some quasi-guvment agency allegedly charged with making sure the business marketplace is fair. Really.
Let’s dissect this, shall we? First off, what exactly is a moral economy? Taking a page out of the pixies and unicorns playbook, it’s based on goodness, fairness and justice. Never mind that it only seems to work on paper or in theory and throws modern capitalistic market forces out the window. In short, a moral economy is just another re-brand of over-reach and socialism, capitalizing on the victim mentality.
CCO, an acronym for Communities Creating Opportunity (operative verb “opportunity”) is an offshoot of and funded in part by the Catholic Church. Every time you go to Mass and drop money in the offering plate of participating congregations, like St. Anthony’s on Benton Boulevard, you fund the agitating, aggravating activities of these so called do-gooders and their ongoing mission to wreak havoc in the business community.
Some, including this News-Dog long experienced with CCO, would call it extortion. These grifters have sadly expanded their tentacles to include other denominations and organizations – some of which you’d least expect to be a part of CCO – such as the Somali Foundation and a group called Inter-Soccer League of Missouri. So overreaching and aggressive was CCO years ago that Northeast neighborhood organizations actually barred them from participating in any neighborhood association-sponsored activities, given CCO’s ability to steal credit and headlines while putting almost zero effort into whatever day project was taking place at the time.
Now it seems they’ve set their sights on the payday loan business in Kansas City. Apparently this legal, tax paying business is not part of their “moral economy” business model, whatever that is. This opinionated news-dog thinks that pretty much any business that’s legal is moral, especially the payday/title loan business, given its heavy regulation by the city.
Make no mistake, this so called “hearing” on June 2nd at Municipal Auditorium’s Music Hall will be nothing more than a mob scene, filled with bused-in, unemployed, sign-toting protestors, bought and paid for by CCO to act angry and scream real loud and vilify anyone who capitalized on the opportunity to run a highly regulated and monitored payday or title loan business within the city limits. When you think about CCO and what it stands for, Communities Creating Opportunity, aren’t these rented goons and their minions really protesting against opportunity with this protest? You decide.
