This week’s book recommendation comes from Karla Soto, Summer Associate with the North-East Branch of the Kansas City Public Library.

She chose “Lilo and Stitch,” a Disney movie for the Beach Reads theme.

“This movie takes place in Hawaii where a girl named Lilo lives with her older sister after her parents passed away from a car accident,” Karla said. “Lilo becomes friends with an unknown galaxy creature who also does not have a family to be loved by. This is a great movie that teaches the meaning of the word ‘ohana,’ which means family, and ‘family never gets left behind.’ As shown in the movie Lilo becomes great friends with Stitch and becomes part of Lilo’s family in Hawaii.”

The Kansas City Public Library offers movies and television shows on DVD, as well as streaming at kclibrary.org.
