Billy Brassfield, 69, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024, in Nashville, TN with family members by his side. Billy was born on March 11, 1955, to Edward and Nellie Brassfield in Kansas City, MO. He attended Northeast High School and in 1972, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. He returned home to civilian life after completing three years of service. In 1981, he relisted in the military, this time serving in the U.S. Navy where he was stationed on the USS Prairie then in 1984 was stationed on the USS Edson.
Billy was a loyal Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan. He proudly wore his Super Bowl Championship and World Series Championship gear while living in Tennessee, especially on game days. Billy loved listening to music, he didn’t know a stranger and enjoyed visiting with all types of people and sharing stories. Billy’s humor and laughter will forever be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Nellie Brassfield and his nephew Johnny Meinzer. He is survived by his brother, Larry (Diana) Brassfield and sister, Pamela Nelson, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, a nephew, and many cousins.
Service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, at First Christian Church of North Kansas City, 2018 Gentry St., N.K.C. MO. 64116.
