The Art in the Loop Foundation (AILF) is seeking artists of all types to help create a series of art installations for Downtown Kansas City. The project will take place between May 1st and run until September 30th. This year, the project’s theme is “KC PLAYS!”
The goal is to reinvigorate the center of downtown with art that will delight and surprise the people who live, work and play in the downtown area by providing temporary, uplifting and interactive artistic displays. Of equal importance is the opportunity to encourage established and emerging artists alike to contribute their talents.
AILF is a partnership of the Downtown Council of Kansas City, the Kansas City Art Institute and the City of Kansas City, Missouri. It is dedicated to engaging artists in the ongoing revitalization of Downtown Kansas City.
“The mission of the program is to work with artists to create engaging and positive art,” said Ann Holliday, Program Director for the Art In the Loop Foundation. “We welcome all types of art, such as performance art, dance, fashion design, poetry and even video.”
Proposed locations for the installations include The Kansas City Public Library, The KC Streetcar and West Terrace Park. The stipends offered will range from $500 to $5000.
