Area churches were abuzz March 18-19 celebrating the annual Feast of St. Joseph’s Table, a centuries old Sicilian tradition in honor of St. Joseph.

From pasta Milanese to fresh cannoli to the array of homemade Italian cookies, one thing was for sure: attendees wouldn’t be leaving hungry.

The feast became tradition following a devastating drought on the island of Sicily in the mid-1500s. When the residents offered novenas to St. Joseph, pleading for help, he rewarded their faith and devotion by sending plentiful rains and a fruitful harvest. Now, the Feast of St. Joseph’s Table has become a worldwide celebration.

Churches celebrating in the Northeast area included Holy Rosary, Holy Cross and St. Anthony. Below are the highlights from each church.
