Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the more than 100-year-old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family. Tours are free and will be held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., Kansas City, Mo.

La Chalupa Farmer’s Market
Mattie Rhodes Community Center, 148 N. Topping, will host La Chalupa Farmer’s Market every Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Mattie Rhodes parking lot. EBT/SNAP cards will get extra dollars for local produce.
Thurs-Day Dreamin’
Join North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd., at 4:30 p.m. for Thurs-Day Dreamin’. Each Thursday will feature a creative activity ranging from games to crafts to workshops to movies and more! Most enjoyed by Tweens and Teens.

Story Time and Craft
Join North-East Public Library for its weekly story time and craft at 10:30 a.m. This story time group promotes literacy in children with the participation of caring family members. This week’s craft is a July 4th theme.
Knights of Columbus Country Jam
Join Knights of Columbus Council 4613 for a night of dancing and country music by Richard Lalla from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Parish Hall, 3208 Lexington, Kansas City, Mo. Food will be available for purchase.
9th and Van Brunt Athletic Fields Ribbon Cutting
Join the Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department for a ribbon cutting of the new athletic field complex at 9th and Van Brunt. A free picnic will be held at the fields from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Mayor’s Night Kicks games will begin at 6 p.m. and the ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Health Fair
North-East Public Library will host a Mini-Health Fair beginning at noon. Free services will include: Ask-A-Doctor, Glucose Screening, Glaucoma Screening, Children Vision Screenings (6 months to 6 years) and Posture Balance Screening. Services will be provided by Cleveland Chiropractic College, Missouri Lions Club and Truman Medical Center. All ages are welcome.
FitNFine
Learn about healthy habits to help you maintain a healthy weight during North-East Public Library’s FitNFine. Class begins at 1:30 p.m. at the library.

Somali Independence Day Celebration
Explore the culture and flavors of the Horn of Africa during the Somali Independence Day Celebration from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the American Sons of Columbus Hall, 2415 Independence Ave., Kansas City, Mo. Enjoy historical presentations, traditional Somali entertainment and delicious cuisine. Free will donations are requested. All are welcome to attend.

Wimpy Club
Attention all fans of The Diary of a Wimpy Kid! North-East Public Library will host a book club at library on Mondays in July where we attendees can chat about the book, play games and create their own Wimpy Journals. Children ages 8 to 12 are welcome to attend and will receive a free copy of the book.

Scarritt Renaissance Fourth of July
Join the Scarritt Rennaissance neighborhood for a Fourth of July celebration. Join your neighbors at 4 p.m. July 4 at the Anderson Avenue Bridge, west side of Concourse Park, for a free hotdog and hamburger cookout. Bring your favorite potluck item to share and your own beverage. Bring a paint brush if you’d like to help paint the benches on the bridge. Also, if you have outdoor games like volleyball, croquet, etc., feel free to bring htem along. Also, don’t forget a chair or blanket. All are welcome to participate, even if you don’t live in the Scarritt neighborhood.
Annual Water Garden Tour
Check out the Garden Society of Greater Kansas City’s Annual Water Garden Tour from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine, on July 7-8. Tickets are $10. Visit www.kcwatergardens.com for ticket locations. Two of the featured gardens are located in Northeast and include: St. John Gardens Community Garden, 3922 St. John Ave., and Curtis Padilla’s garden at 3923 Sunrise Drive. Currently, 10 community gardeners have active garden beds at St. John Gardens.
