KC Museum Hard Hat Tour
Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the 100+ year old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family. Visitors will see Corinthian Hall in mid-renovation, the bare interior of the building exposed for the first time in decades. Visitors will also tour the exhibit inside Corinthian Hall: Planning for the Future: Find History at Kansas City Museum. Admission is free and this week’s tours will be held Wednesday through Saturday at 10 a.m. and at noon on Sunday at the museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd.
Dressing Up in Kansas City: Rites of Passage exhibition
Join the Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., for Dressing Up Kansas City: Rites of Passage. The exhibit is available by tours only Wednesday – Sunday, on the hour beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday – Saturday and at noon on Sundays. Admission is free. Through the Museum’s historic clothing and textile collection, it’ll feature artifacts illustrating the various customs of Kansas City’s shared heritage. Birth rituals, wedding traditions and mourning customs will all be highlighted with clothing that helped define each in their own time period. In addition, the exhibition will feature photographs of Kansas City residents all dressed up and documenting each rite of passage that came their way.

Computer Class
Learn what the Internet and your Internet browser can do. Class begins at 10:30 a.m. at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd.
18th Annual African Heritage Festival
On Saturday November 8th, the African Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City is hosting its 18th Annual African Heritage Festival in conjunction with the Kansas Black Chamber of Commerce. The festival will occur at Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church located at 2310 E. Linwood Blvd. Kansas City, MO, 64109. Doors open for the Heritage Festival at 10:00 AM and will conclude at 4:00 PM. There will be a festival of African food tasting which cost only five dollars ($5). Attendees are encouraged to visit the cultural exhibits: Health and Nutrition, Travel and Tourism, Genealogy, African Marriage, and Music. At 5:30 PM there is an African Reception and Awards Ceremony and that will conclude at 8:30 PM. The cost of entrance for this culturally enriching experience is thirty-five ($35) dollars per person or three hundred and fifty dollars for a table of 10. This will include dinner and entertainment.

Join the Kansas City Museum from 1 – 3 p.m. to explore historic hat fashions and designs through arts and crafts, games and more. Admission is free.

Read, Talk, Quilt
At 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the North-East Library, join the group as they discuss books and work on quilting projects. Beginners are welcome

Join the Kansas City Museum from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, for author Bruce Mathews as he gives a presentation on Kansas City’s stunning stained-glass windows.
Teen Lock-in
Beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at the North-East Library, this after hours program for teens, grades 6-12, includes free food, video games, and more.
