KC Museum Hard Hat Tour
Take a hard hat tour of Corinthian Hall, the 100+ year old home of lumber baron Robert A. Long and his family. Visitors will see Corinthian Hall in mid-renovation, the bare interior of the building exposed for the first time in decades. Visitors will also tour the exhibit inside Corinthian Hall: Planning for the Future: Find History at Kansas City Museum. Admission is free and this week’s tours will be held Wednesday through Friday at 2 p.m. at the museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd.
Canvas Art Exhibit
Join the Kansas City Museum for “Kansas City Canvas: Thomas Hart Benton and Beyond.” Explore the artisan world of Thomas Hart Benton and Kansas City artists through the collection of the Kansas City Museum. As part of the 125th anniversary of Thomas Hart Benton’s birth, the Museum will be showcasing the historical life and work of this amazing artist. The Museum will be displaying such lithograph prints as Forward Pass, Benton Home and more from our collection. The Museum, through the lens of history, will also be exploring works of art from several other KC artists including works from George Caleb Bingham, James Fitzgibbon, Daniel MacMorris and the WPA art of H.L. Pierre. Each piece will be accompanied by an essay from museum staff, area historians and artists offering insights about the history, culture and art of their chosen piece. Tours begin every hour, on the hour at 10 a.m. with the last tour at 3 p.m.

Book Spine Poetry
Want to try to make a poem out of a book cover? Head over to the North-East Library at 5 p.m., where you’ll be able to find books with cool titles and stack them to make unique poems. This program is for teenagers only.

V.F.W. Auxiliary 9997 Cake Walk
The V.F.W. Auxiliary #9997 is hosting a cake walk from 6 – 8 p.m. at 6801 Wilson Road. All are welcome to join. Funds raised from the walk go towards cancer programs and hospital trips for the veterans.
Computer Class–email
Sign up for a free e-mail account and follow along with this tutorial that teaches the ins and outs of sending and receiving email, as well as how to organize your messages. Class begins at 10:30 a.m. at the North-East Public Library, 6000 Wilson Rd.
Easter Egg Hunt
Celebrate this annual Spring event with face painting, egg decorating, music and games from noon – 3 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at the Garrison Community Center, 1124 E. 5th St. Activities will be held in front of the Center and the Easter Egg Hunt will begin at the sound of the horn. Westport Center for the Arts
At 1 p.m. at the North-East Library, children will have the opportunity to create a work of art with professional artists to be displayed at the branch. Kids between the ages of 7-13 are welcome to participate.

Earth Walk
A 3-mile walk along the Missouri River hosted by Bridging the Gap. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the walk commences at 9 a.m. The walk will begin at the River Market and travel east along the Berkley Riverfront Park. This event is free to the public.
Chalk Walk in Historic Northeast
From 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, April 26 and 27, head over to the Kansas City Museum, 3218 Gladstone Blvd., for a free, family friendly event that transforms the grey concrete surrounding the museum into works of art. There will be entertainment and additional activities for families to take advantage of on the Museum grounds. Additional details can be found at chalkwalk.org. This event is sponsored by Northeast Arts KC.
DIY Recycle Art
At 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, visitors of the North-East Library will have the opportunity to create unique art and jewelry from soda tabs, bottle caps, and junk. This program is intended for children and teenagers.
