This feisty newshound made the rounds this weekend along the BRW and we didn’t see anyone, Ossco Bolton of P.O.S.S.E. or the most righteous “Reverend” Michael Brooks notwithstanding, in pink jumpsuits pickin’ up litter. So, that leads us to believe the stolen, er, misappropriated, er no-contract cash grab of $15,000 of taxpayer money is still missing.

Last week the City Council put stop-gaps into the system to avoid anything like this happening again but only if it involves amounts in excess of $10,000. That’s $15,000 too late for this newshound. The fact that both the city and county prosecutor can’t seem to find the spine to prosecute criminally or civilly is equally unsettling. Seriously.

The fact that a signed, then endorsed check somehow does not constitute by default a “contract” to these legal eagle brain trusts is lost on this newsdog, especially since judges in courtrooms across the country consider signed and endorsed checks default contracts. Mind numbingly stupid is all we can come up with on this one. That and weak-kneed political types more interested in the sound bite than doing right for the taxpaying public. We hear there’s a sale on jumpsuits at the uniform store. Do they come in pink?
