On Sunday, June 22, the Tour of Kansas City and bike race set-up shop in the Historic Northeast. Tour of KC, according to its website, is a three-day cycling festival celebrating health and wellness in Kansas City while promoting the culture of cycling with opportunities for every level of bicycle enthusiast from the novice to the fastest professional cyclists. For the novice cyclers, circuit races took part throughout the day with groups for junior and adult racers. The circuit races includes as little as three, three-mile laps to as many as 12 laps. The relaxing, fun ride tour, offered riders a 17 and 35 mile option, cycling past such sites as the River Market, the West Bottoms, the American Royal, the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, Union Station, Liberty Memorial, the Sprint Center, Jazz District. The festivities in the Northeast included food trucks and merchandise tents, specifically geared for bikers.
