Residents may want to rethink their travel routes this weekend.

Once again, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will reduce I-29/35 to one lane in both directions this weekend for pavement work between 16th Street in North Kansas City and the north end of the Christopher S. Bond Bridge.

In addition, due to the closure of the Chouteau Trafficway and Parvin intersection through July, routes without congestion will be limited to the Heart of America and Broadway bridges.

This weekend’s closure on I-29/35 will begin today at 7:30 p.m. and will continue through 5 a.m. Sunday. Crews will replace temporary pavement in both the north and southbound lanes at the north end of the bridge as well as make repairs to the southbound lanes that span the railroad yards south of 16th Street in NKC.
