BREAKING: Just before 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, Kansas City Police Department’s (KCPD) Accident Investigation Section (AIS) dispatched to the intersection of Askew and Anderson avenues to meet Central and East Patrol Divisions (CPD/ EPD) on a reported injury police vehicular collision.
Following an initial investigation, it was discovered that KCPD officers were in pursuit of a Silver BMW 640I, which was involved in an Armed Robbery/ Carjacking.
The BMW was traveling southbound on Askew Avenue — a one way, northbound street — when it collided with a Buick Enclave parked near the 200 block of Askew Ave., according to a release from KCPD Media Unit, Wednesday evening.
The driver continued to move southbound on Askew after striking the Buick. Near the intersection of Askew and Anderson avenues, a marked Police Dodge Durango in Code-1 — red lights and sirens — collided with the BMW. Upon collision, the BMW continued to travel off the roadway on Askew, and collided with a wooden light pole before coming to a halt, according to a release from KCPD Media Unit, Wednesday evening.
The BMW driver — who remained uninjured in the collision — was taken into KCPD custody. The officer received non life threatening injuries in the incident and declined medical attention.
This investigation remains ongoing at this time.

BREAKING — Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) officers are currently on the scene at the intersection of Askew and Anderson avenues for a vehicle collision involving a police officer.
An on scene witness shared with Northeast News that this was what was thought to be a Police chase.
The driver of a grey BMW was traveling at a high rate of speed down Askew Avenue as a police officer tried to pull the driver over. However, the officer was unable to get the vehicle to stop.
The two vehicles collided just past the intersection of Askew and Anderson Avenues within the Scarritt Renaissance neighborhood.
An on scene officer shared that all parties involved in the incident are in stable condition and that the driver of the vehicle is in Police custody.
