Sunday, Dec. 21, just before 4:30 a.m. KCPD officers were dispatched to the intersection of Admiral Blvd. and The Paseo on a reported shooting. 

 Officers responded to the area where they located an adult male victim, lying in the street near the intersection, unresponsive, and suffering from apparent gunshot trauma. EMS responded to the scene shortly after initial responding officers and declared the victim deceased at that time.

The identity of the decedent was released on Wednesday, Dec. 24, as Johntrel L. Vickers, B/M, 05/24/1992.

 There is no preliminary information indicating what led up to the shooting and a subject of interest has not been identified at this time.

 Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel responded to the scene to collect witness statements and gather any evidence. This incident is being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing at this time.
